A thin layer-based amperometric enzyme immunoassay for the rapid and sensitive diagnosis of respiratory syncytial virus infections

► A thin layer-based amperometric (TLA) detection protocol was developed. ► The TLA detection was applied to the immunoassay of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). ► The TLA immunoassay can be easily completed within 25 min. ► The performance of the TLA test was assessed for RSV detection in clinical respiratory samples. ► The TLA assay compared favorably with commercial immunofluorescent tests and real-time PCR.
