Influence of chemical and mineralogical properties of organic amendments on the selection of an adequate analytical procedure for trace elements determination

► The use of HF is mandatory for trace elements total digestion of organic amendments. ► Different organic amendment types need different acid mixtures for microwave digestion. ► HCl avoids CaF2 precipitation in microwave digestion of organic amendments with CaCO3. ► Microwave-assisted digestion of compost using HF generates CaAlF5 precipitates. ► XRD is useful to monitoring the mineralogical changes in microwave-assisted digestion.
