Failure of ASTM A-106 Gr. B tubes by creep and erosive wear

► Erosive wear in ASTM A-106 Gr. B tubes caused by oxide particles in the dedusting system of arc furnace.
► Cracks in the circumferential direction due to creep damage.
► One solution is to replace ASTM A-106 Gr. B tubes by quenched and tempered Cr–Mo steels.
► Coating with Ni alloys is another proposed solution.
