► The processing of Al-Sn alloys is a template to develop new bearing alloys. ► Defects in SAE 783 represent the trinity of oxides, hydrogen and porosity. ► The defects are critical, because a single cold rolling pass of 50% is applied. ► A network intermetallic particles precludes ductile deformation of SAE 788. ► There is a strong multiplicative effect of the reduction of impurities.
