Fabrication of Co3V2O7(OH)2·2H2O hexagonal microplatelets and its application in lithium-ion batteries

Co3V2O7(OH)2·2H2O hexagonal microplatelets with the thickness of 1-2 μm and the diameter of 15-20 μm have been successfully prepared on a large scale via a hydrothermal process without using any templates or surfactants. Electrochemical evaluation revealed that the as-prepared Co3V2O7(OH)2·2H2O hexagonal microplatelets exhibited high discharge capacity and good cyclability. The reversible capacity of 288.1 mA h g−1 was delivered after 50 cycles at a current density of 50 mA g−1, with Coulombic efficiency of about 98%. The present work will greatly expand the range of the anode materials choices for lithium-ion batteries.
