Thermal treatment of superconductor thin film of the BSCCO system using domestic microwave oven

► We prepare a superconductor thin film of the BSCCO system. ► We have used a domestic microwave oven (2:45 GHz, 800 W) in the heat treatment. ► The film presented the phases 2212 and 2201. ► Formation of large plate-like grains with dimensions around 50 ×  50 μm2. ► Magnetic measurements confirm the deficient connectivity between the plates (weak-links).
