Probing ion channel activity of human islet amyloid polypeptide (amylin)

► Structure and ion activity of hIAPP channels in DOPC bilayer are studied. ► hIAPP channels are highly selective for Cl‐ion transport. ► Multiple ion conductivity is directional from lower to upper leaflet of bilayer. ► Channel morphologies and dimensions are compatible with the experiments. ► Loosely-associated β-subunits are common structural motifs for amyloid pores.
