► To explore the importance of APOA5 185GG in lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activation. ► We generate 19 variants at this residue. ► Hydrolysis of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) is reduced by APOA5variants. ► APOA5 residue 185G is very important in LPL-mediated VLDL hydrolysis.
