Differences in transcriptional effects of 1α,25 dihydroxyvitamin D3 on fibroblasts associated to breast carcinomas and from paired normal breast tissues

► We cultured fibroblasts from breast cancer (CAFs) and paired normal tissue (NAFs). ► Genes differentially expressed were analyzed in CAFs and NAFs treated with 1,25D. ► In CAFs, genes coded for proliferation inhibition and anti inflammation effects. ► In NAFs induced genes coded for anti apoptosis, immune defense and detoxification. ► Common genes showed different co-expression by networks and interactome analysis.
