Effects of nuclear receptor transactivation on boar taint metabolism and gene expression in porcine hepatocytes

► CAR, PXR, and FXR were transactivated in isolated hepatocytes using known agonists. ► Expression of CYP2E1, CYP2C33, CYP2A19, and AKR1C1 were affected. ► Transactivation of FXR increased 6-OH-3MI production, which favors 3MI clearance. ► Transactivation of PXR increased overall AND metabolism.
