Expression and function of OXE receptor, an eicosanoid receptor, in steroidogenic cells

► Lipoxygenated metabolites of arachidonic acid stimulate StAR protein induction. ► The role of OXE-R, a leukotriene receptor, in the stimulation of steroidogenesis was determined. ► OXE-R was detected in human adrenocortical H295R cells. ► An antagonist of the OXE-R inhibits StAR protein induction and steroidogenesis. ► The prototypical OXE-R agonist 5-oxo-ETE increases cAMP-dependent StAR induction and steroidogenesis.
