Anaesthetic and genotoxic effect of medicinal plant extracts in gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata L.)

- All essential oils proved to qualify as anaesthetic agents in sea bream achieving deep narcosis and behavioural recovery.
- E. aromatic, O. vulgare and A. triphylla induced genotoxicity at applied doses.
- Effect of M. alternifolia and J. communis was anti-genotoxic.
- C. zeylanicum was evaluated as anti-stress and geno-protective anaesthetic agent.
