Diagnostic PCR assays to detect and differentiate Kudoa septempunctata, K. thyrsites and K. lateolabracis (Myxozoa, Multivalvulida) in muscle tissue of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

► We developed PCR assays for differentiation of three Kudoa spp. in olive flounder. ► K. lateolabracis was detected for the first time in olive flounder. ► A new genetic lineage of K. thyrsites was detected in olive flounder. ► Sensitive detection of K. septempunctata in fish fillets will increase food safety.
