Glycosomal ABC transporters of Trypanosoma brucei: Characterisation of their expression, topology and substrate specificity

► Membranes of Trypanosoma brucei glycosomes contain three different ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ► The expression of the glycosomal ABC transporters is developmentally regulated. ► The ATP-binding site of the transporters is at the cytosolic face of the membrane. ► At least one of the ABC transporters serves to transport oleoyl-CoA into glycosomes.
