Multifunctional microspheres (131I-HCuSNPs-MS-PTX) were prepared to serve as a versatile theranostic agent in an orthotopic rat breast cancer model. The combination therapy offered by the microspheres can eliminate the tumor completely and SPECT/CT and photoacoustic imaging mediated by it can intuitively monitor its distribution non-invasively.268
