Amount of boron in Norway spruce stands in eastern Finland

► We studied the amount of boron in Norway spruce stands in eastern Finland. ► Amount of boron in trees and surface soil was in total 0.9-2.5 kg ha−1. ► Soil, especially mineral soil, seemed to be the most important site of boron storage. ► Boron fertilisation nearly doubled the amount of boron in the ecosystem. ► Only 38% of fertiliser B (2 kg ha−1) was in the ecosystem components studied.
