Psychologie communautaire en Amérique latine : trajectoire historique et enjeux actuels

RésuméL’objet de cet article est de décrire les circonstances historiques et sociopolitiques à l’origine de l’éclosion de la psychologie communautaire en Amérique latine. Nous décrivons l’évolution de la discipline depuis la fin des années 1950, en soulignant les circonstances historiques, sociales, culturelles et politiques qui ont formé son caractère et ont marqué son évolution, ainsi que celle de la psychologie comme discipline scientifique et profession d’aide. Enfin, nous présentons les deux principaux enjeux auxquels se confronte la psychologie communautaire aujourd’hui : l’évaluation et systématisation de sa mise en pratique et l’empowerment des communautés à travers une participation effective de ses membres.

The aim of this article is to describe the historical circumstances and the sociopolitical influences that gave rise to community psychology in Latin America. The presentation discusses the evolution of the discipline beginning in the late 1950s and elaborates on the historical, social and political influences that shaped its identity, including the context for the evolution of psychology as a scientific discipline and as a helping profession. Finally, two major and current challenges that community psychology faces in Latin America are discussed, namely the systematisation and evaluation of intervention and practice, and the empowerment of communities through real participation of its members.
