This paper summarizes many years of study on the auditory development of the youngest people, newborns and infants. It first reviews the anatomical and physiological development as introduction to the behavior of the infants. It shows what signals serve as stimuli, and how the infants display their responses. Much of this is clinically useful, as it teaches what to expect of any infant at any early age.
