Envejecer y empoderar. Una propuesta analítica

The present article develops a theoretical framework to deal with ageing and dependency through empowerment. Empowerment is a complex concept encompassing a complex phenomenon. This concept is an analytical tool both to measure and to promote the elderly's freedom of choice and ability to shape their own lives. This cross-disciplinary research proposal tentatively defines the concept of empowerment and provides a set of dimensions and items for discussion among researchers, professionals, and politicians. Insofar as ageing and international migration have become outstanding current issues, the study takes into account both older nationals and older foreigners.
