Temperature-dependent emission in disordered herringbone aggregates: stacking faults and point defects

A model accounting for the simultaneous presence of static and dynamic disorder is developed for herringbone (HB) aggregates and thin films of conjugated oligomers such as oligo-phenylene vinylene and oligothiophene. Short-range orientational defects as well as stacking faults (SFs) are considered within the motional narrowing regime. Temperature effects are included under the fast scattering approximation. Adding orientational defects attenuates 0-0 emission in HB aggregates while enhancing 0-0 emission when stacking faults are already present.
