Syndrome du survivant : réflexions sur l'atypie de ses manifestations

This study analyses atypical appearances of survivor syndrome. The employees who remain after downsizing are young adults (generation X). The seven interview participants amazingly show psychological and behavioural reactions very different from the standard range of emotions that survivors usually experience. Indeed, job insecurity, dissatisfaction with planning and communication, reduced risk taking and motivation, distrust and betrayal, and anger over the layoff process are not very apparent in the survivor's speeches. Two factors are proposed for a possible explanation for the lack of evidence of survivor syndrome in this study: the particular attributes of generation X and corporate culture.
