New 1D chains self-assembled by girdle-like Mo18 polyanions

A new complex {(NH4)2·[Ca4(H2O)18(CH3COO)2]·{Ca@[Mo10VIMo8VO52(OH)4(CH3COO)2]}·16H2O}n (1) has been synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy). Single crystal X-ray analysis showed a novel 1D ladder-like assembly of the Mo18 polyanions in it, which crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P-1 (No. 2), a=10.441(2), b=15.126(3), c=15.300(3) Å, α=109.91(3), β=100.48(3), γ=100.60(3)°, V=2153.5(7) Å3, Z=1. A total of 9677 unique data were refined to values of R1 and wR2 of 4.70 and 9.84%, respectively.
