Using seasonal climate forecasts to improve maize production decision support in Zimbabwe

► Monthly weather series for the five phases of SOI were generated by ENSO based RAINMAN weather generator. ► Generated climatic scenarios were used to simulate maize yields with AquaCrop. ► A simple maize production decision support tool for a marginal tropical site was developed. ► The potential use of weather forecasts in planning agricultural activities was apparent.
