Attitudes towards people with intellectual disabilities: A comparison of young people from British South Asian and White British backgrounds

► We survey 737 adolescents to identify attitudes towards people with intellectual disabilities. ► We compare White British attitudes with British South Asian attitudes. ► We examine cross-cultural differences in beliefs about empowerment and sheltering. ► Future inclusion policies need to integrate ethnic minority views. ► Culturally specific school based interventions could help decrease stigma and foster attitudes in line with the aims of normalisation.
