A new type of electrochemical oxidation of alcohols mediated with a ruthenium-dioxolene-amine complex in neutral water

► The novel redox behavior of the Ru-dioxolene-NH3 complex has been reported. ► Deprotonation of [RuII(q)(NH3)]2+ produces [RuII(sq)(NH2)]+. ► The NH2 and q groups play essential roles in the oxidation of the alcohols.
