Synthesis and characterization of methylcellulose/PVA based porous composite

► Extraction of cellulose from agro-waste sugarcane bagasse. ► Synthesis of methylcellulose from cellulose with 1.44 degree of substitution. ► Porous composite of methylcellulose/poly(vinyl alcohol) blend by freeze drying process. ► 86% porosity of porous composite was calculated using gravimetric measurement. ► Topographical pore distribution of porous composite by image analysis using ImageJ software.
