Durability of lignocellulosic fibers treated with vegetable oil-phenolic resin

► A process for transesterification of lignocellulosic fibers is proposed. ► The process uses vegetable oil and phenolic resin in alkaline condition. ► The treatment results in approximately 70% increase in tensile strength. ► Susceptibility to biological and chemical degradations is also remarkably reduced.
