La CIF-EA : une approche pertinente pour évaluer l’impact de l’environnement sur la participation des élèves ?

RésuméDans le cadre de la formation offerte à la Haute école pédagogique du canton de Vaud pour l’obtention du « Master of Arts en enseignement spécialisé » et du « Diplôme dans le domaine de la pédagogie spécialisée », quatre enseignants spécialisés, accompagnés par une formatrice-chercheure, ont mené un travail de recherche visant à exploiter la CIF-EA (Organisation mondiale de la santé, 2007) à des fins pédagogiques. Focalisant leur intérêt sur les indicateurs de la participation et de l’environnement, et émettant l’hypothèse que ces deux types de variables sont en lien étroit, les enseignants ont observé finement, à l’aide de la CIF-EA, des situations d’enseignement dans leurs lieux de travail respectifs. La recherche a permis de mettre en lumière l’influence, dans un contexte classe, des facteurs environnementaux – dont fait partie l’enseignant – sur la participation des élèves, et de formuler des propositions d’adaptation de la nomenclature à l’usage des enseignants spécialisés. L’intérêt majeur du travail entrepris est d’ouvrir sur de nouvelles perspectives d’observations permettant, d’une part, d’éviter l’écueil d’une centration sur l’élève et ses difficultés, retards, incapacités et limitations et, d’autre part, de favoriser le travail d’identification des actions pédagogiques à entreprendre.

Within the framework of training offered by the University of Teacher Education of the State of Vaud leading to a Masters of Arts in Special Education and the Diploma in Special Education, four teachers in special education and a trainer-researcher undertook research work using the ICF-CY (WHO, 2007) for educational purposes. Focusing on the indicators of participation and environment, and operating on the hypothesis that these two types of variables are closely linked, they observed teaching situations in their respective workplaces. This study highlights the influence of environmental factors – one of which is the teacher – on pupil participation, and offers proposals for adjusting the terminology used by teachers in special education. The work is of particular relevance in that it opens up new observational perspectives that can, on the one hand, help to avoid the pitfall of focusing on a pupil's difficulties, delayed development, disabilities and/or limitations and, on the other hand, favor the work of identification of the educational actions to be undertaken.
