Biomonitoring of 210Po and 210Pb using lichens and mosses around coal-fired power plants in Western Turkey

► Lichens and mosses have been used as biomonitors of 210Po and 210Pb deposition. ► The morphology of lichens and mosses does not vary with seasons. ► Lichens and mosses retain and accumulate pollutants deposited from the atmosphere. ► Canopy is an important factor causing differences in the concentrations of radionuclides.
