Distribution and time-variation of spire streaks at Pavonis Mons on Mars

► We named the specific dark wind streaks on Tharsis volcanoes “Spire Streaks”. ► We documented the distribution and the time-variation of the streaks on Pavonis Mons. ► Visible and infrared images obtained by satellites were investigated. ► We predicted the wind field over Pavonis Mons with a mesoscale climate model. ► Some features of the streaks are outside the scope of previous modeling for erosion.
