Ca2+-dependent binding of calcium-binding protein 1 to presynaptic group III metabotropic glutamate receptors and blockage by phosphorylation of the receptors

► Presynaptic group III mGluRs bind CaM. ► Voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels bind multiple EF-hand Ca2+-binding proteins. ► These EF-hand proteins have a similar structure but have distinct characteristic properties. ► Presynaptic group III mGluRs directly bound CaBP1 that binds Ca2+ channels. ► Presynaptic group III mGluRs might use CaBP1 to fine-tune neurotransmission.
