Evaluation of the protective potential of a Taenia solium cysticercus mimotope on murine cysticercosis

► Taenia solium and Taenia crassiceps are phylogenetically related. ► Synthetic mimotope of T. solium (NC-1) conjugated to BSA was used as immunogen. ► NC-1/BSA elicited protection to mice challenged intraperitoneally with T. crassiceps. ► NC-1/BSA antibodies immunostained proteins from T. crassiceps cisticercus. ► NC-1 is a good candidate to compose vaccine against human and animal cysticercosis.
