PER.C6® cells as a serum-free suspension cell platform for the production of high titer poliovirus: A potential low cost of goods option for world supply of inactivated poliovirus vaccine

► A novel cell platform is proposed for poliovirus and consequently IPV production. ► The cell-line is susceptible to all three polio virus serotypes. ► Higher yields in titers and D-antigen are attained compared to Vero cells. ► Yields can be upscaled readily from 20 ml to 2 L.
