Quantitative evaluation of the effect of the hepatitis B vaccine based on the HBsAg- and anti-HBs-positive rates in the Chinese population over the last 33 years

► Other factors beside vaccine, could have contributed to decrease HBV infections. ► We evaluated the effect of HBV vaccine based on HBsAg- and HBsAb-positive rates. ► The percentage of HBsAb effect in the decrease in HBsAg-positive rate was 60.34%. ► It will be beneficial to determine new strategies for prevention of HBV infection.
