Discrete optical soliton scattering by local inhomogeneities

► The discrete optical soliton scattering by point defects is studied analytically and numerically. ► The analytical expressions are derived for the reflection and transmission of nonlinear waves at a point defect. ► It is shown that the point defects allow to effectively control and manipulate the discrete optical solitons.
