Silicon photovoltaics may benefit from the use of graphene by exploiting it both as a semitransparent electrode and an antireflection coating. It is well-known that various physical properties of interfaces are largely controlled by the interface crystallography. Highly coherent orientations of graphene on non-reconstructed Si (1 0 0) and Si (1 1 1) substrates are identified. The highly coherent junctions are likely to have distinguished physical properties that would give additional possibilities to optimize related devices in photovoltaic and other applications.
