Experimental organic matter maturation at 2Â kbar: Heat-up effect to low temperatures on vitrinite reflectance

►Experimental effect of heat-up to low T on vitrinite reflectance (VR) at 2 kbar. ►Cold-seal pressure vessel with classical heat-up device and procedure was used. ►Heat-up increases VR for T > ~ 250 °C and has no impact on VR for T < ~ 250 °C. ►Short laboratory maturation heating times are needed to formulate VR rate equation. ►Possibilities to surmount heat-up effect in kinetic analysis of VR evolution are shown.
