Loss rates and time scales for sodium at Mercury

► We model the sodium exosphere of Mercury with a new numerical model. ► Model is time evolving and it includes a rotating surface. ► We follow the time evolution of sodium and evaluate the typical time-scales. ► Short-term time scales, from hours to half day, depend on the true anomaly angle. ► Jeans escape probability for sodium is estimated at various true anomaly angles.
