Meteor impact perturbation in the lower ionosphere of Mars: MGS observations

► Strong perturbation was found in 65 electron density profiles in the lower ionosphere of Mars during January-June 2005. ► Maximum luminosities in TEC were detected, when comets 2007 PL42 and 4015 Wilson-Harrington intersected Mars orbit. ► Significant enhancements in TEC, found on 21 January and 23 May 2005 might be associated with meteor showers.
