The large-scale energetic ion layer in the high latitude Jovian magnetosphere as revealed by ULYSSES/HI-SCALE cross-field intensity-gradient measurements

► Testing the large scale High Latitude ion Layer (HLL) in the Jovian outer mag-sphere. ► Cross-B field anisotropies monitor the ion northward/southward intensity gradients. ► HLL exists in the north hemisphere and in the south high-latitude duskside mag-sphere. ► HLL: a third energetic particle area coexisting with radiation belts and magnetodisc. ► Evidence for the detection of an energetic proton magnetopause boundary layer.
