Field analog studies of the distribution of windblown sediments at Amboy Crater, California, with application to Mars

► We present results of crater studies at Amboy Crater as an analog to Gusev, Mars. ► Real-time wind measurements and active sediment deposition indicate reverse flow. ► Reverse flow is expected to cease within a d/D range from 0.02 to 0.05. ► Craters near the Spirit site have d/D from 0.034 to 0.076, suggesting reverse flow. ► Position of sediments in Gusev Craters indicate winds from northwest to southeast.
