Diffusion-limited characteristics of mechanically induced currents in polypyrrole/Au-membrane composites

► Ion-dependent mechanically induced current in polypyrrole/membrane composite was clarified. ► Magnitude of induced current could be correlated to the diffusion coefficient of cation in supporting electrolyte. ► Two-electrode device was fabricated to confirm the generation of mechanically induced current with two electrode cell. ► Output power was estimated to be around 3 μW/mg.
