Discussion on the Three Levels of the Prescription-Composition Principle of TCM

This article aims at discussing the various aspects of the Prescription-Composition Principle (zu fang yuan ze) in the Differentiation of Syndrome and Treatment Concept (bian zheng lun zhi) of TCM. With reference to the alleged side effects of Traditional Chinese medicine, the article focuses on the importance of the Differentiation of Syndrome and Treatment Concept for a correct therapy. Accordingly, the three aspects of the Prescription - Composition Principle are introduced: correspondence between syndrome and formula (fang zheng dui ying), correspondence between syndrome and formula factors (fang zheng yao su dui ying), and the differentiation between monarch, minister, assistant and messenger (jun, chen, zuo shi).

ZusammenfassungDieser Artikel stellt die verschiedenen Ebenen des Rezepturzusammensetzungsprinzips in der TCM (Zu Fang Yuan Ze) hinsichtlich der Differenzierung von Syndrom und Behandlung (Bian Zheng Lun Zhi) dar. Anhand der Prüfung von Nebenwirkungen der TCM wird geschlossen, dass der Differenzierung von Syndrom und Behandlung mehr Beachtung geschenkt werden sollte. Entsprechend werden die drei Ebenen des Rezepturzusammensetzungsprinzips vorgestellt: Übereinstimmung zwischen Syndrom und Rezeptur (Fang Zheng Dui Ying), Übereinstimmung zwischen Syndrom und Rezepturbestandteilen (Fang Zheng Yao Su Dui Ying), „Monarch, Minister, Assistent und Bote” (Jun, Chen, Zuo Shi).
