► Since ILAE Guidelines (2006), evidence-based treatment of idiopathic generalized epilepsies significantly improved. ► Class I data support ethosuximide and valproate in monotherapy for childhood absence epilepsy. ► Topiramate in mono or adjunctive therapy for primarily generalized tonic-clonic seizures (PGTCS). ► Lamotrigine as adjunctive therapy for PGTCS. ► Levetiracetam as adjunctive therapy for myoclonic and PGTCS.
