Trouble déficit d'attention avec ou sans hyperactivité dans les hypersomnies centrales : vulnérabilité commune ou conséquence de la somnolence diurne excessive ?

Symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are frequently seen in subjects with hypersomnia of central origin. Pathophysiological hypotheses underlying this association are discussed: are ADHD symptoms the consequences of excessive daytime sleepiness or ADHD shares a common vulnerability with hypersomnia? The purpose of our study is, on one hand, to characterize the frequency of ADHD in patients with narcolepsy-cataplexy, narcolepsy without cataplexy and idiopathic hypersomnia and, on the other hand, to identify the clinical, biological and polysomnographic determinants of this association. This work could improve our understanding of the pathophysiology of these disorders.
