Syndrome de Kleine-Levin chez deux adolescentes : caractéristiques cliniques et polysomnographiques

Two cases of Kleine-Levin syndrome are reported in adolescent girls. The age at onset was 13 years, 2 months and 14 years, 9 months. The diagnosis was suggested on the presence of recurrent hypersomnia in association with behavioral and cognitive disturbances. These symptoms were inconstantly associated with eating disorders and hypersexuality. The six (case 1) and three (case 2) observed symptomatic periods were followed by symptom free intervals. A continuous polysomnography was recorded during 48 hours during a symptomatic period, in each case. The most striking sleep abnormality was the presence of an important sleep fragmentation during stage 2 of non REM sleep.
