Sleep in elderly demented people is remarkable for clinical and polysomnographic alterations, more or less characteristic according to the type of dementia. In addition comorbid disorders impact on sleep. Both of these elements must be taken into account in view of an adequate treatment of these sleep disorders. Therapeutic approaches rely on both pharmacologic and non pharmacologic measures. They still deserve additional studies to be improved.
