L'évaluation gérontologique standardisée, un outil pour améliorer les soins aux personnes âgées diabétiques

The population of older patients with diabetes is very heterogeneous owing to diverse general health status and to diverse diabetic diseases according to physiopathology, duration and complications. Moreover, comorbidity may be severe and these patients are prone to present so-called geriatric syndromes such as falls, incontinence, and cognitive disorders. As now recommended, the complex needs of these patients are best addressed with comprehensive gerontological assessment adapted for diabetes. As a result, adapted therapeutic education for the patients and for the caregiver can be implemented. The general aim would be to improve quality of care and quality of life in a safer way.
