Le développement des Bistrots Mémoire en France

This paper presents the debates that took place in Nantes on the 4/2/2012 at the annual meeting of the Union of the “Bistrots Mémoire” (Memory Pubs). These Pubs enhance a new way of looking at Alzheimer's disease, through the sharing of experiences between people with Alzheimer's disease, their caregivers, professionals and volunteers. They also go to the heart of fundamental questions, such as: How to protect frail families? What exactly does respite mean for them? What do those who help need? How can one facilitate the cooperation of the different social action forces? Some political decisions, such as the creation of “respite platforms”, give a clearer place to the “Bistrots Mémoire” in that network.
