Sexualité et vie affective au grand âge

Although sexuality is emphasized in our social model, in which sexual activity is considered a criterion of good health or of personal and marital development, it is much less so in the field of geriatrics, and especially if old age is associated with a physical, mental, or cognitive handicap. How can the body of the other be represented when perceived as suffering and failing, a body requiring care, as possibly desirable and desiring? We propose to provide an update on social representations surrounding the concept of sexuality in old age, but also its physical and mental reality and its management in an institution.
